Anne Bundgaard (b. 1975) is a Danish visual artist based in Copenhagen.
Working in painting and site-specific murals, Anne Bundgaard creates figurative worlds where reality, memory and imagination overlap. Her paintings are populated by people, plants and curious beings that inhabit dreamlike landscapes, where familiar logic quietly slips away.
Rather than telling fixed stories, her work leaves room for the viewer's own interpretations. Through an intuitive painting process, she explores themes of transformation, belonging and the often blurred boundary between the inner and outer world. Colour, symbolism and composition guide the work as much as the subject itself.
Educated at the Royal Danish Academy in 2002, Bundgaard has worked professionally as an artist since 2018. Alongside her studio practice, she has completed numerous large-scale public commissions, bringing her distinctive visual language into dialogue with architecture, history and the character of a place.
My Story
Before I was born I was a fish. When I was a child I spent most of my time in the woods or with my sheep, rabbits, cat and all of the invisible creatues. My best friend was an old lady. School was often boring so I got into trouble a lot. But I figured out how to be somewhat well behaved and did okay anyway. I love exploring new adventures, places and people.
